Your DIY Guide to Flawless, Natural-Looking Hair

Thinking about getting hair extensions but not sure how much hair you actually need? You’re not alone! Choosing the right thickness is key to making your extensions look natural, feel comfortable, and blend seamlessly with your own hair.

Whether you’re new to extensions or just need a quick refresher, this guide will help you figure out exactly what you need based on your hair type, length, and color.

Step 1: Know Your Hair Type

Let’s start with your natural hair thickness. This is the foundation for determining how many grams of hair you’ll need:

• Fine/Thin Hair – 100 grams

• Medium Hair – 150 grams

• Thick Hair – 200 grams

These gram amounts will give you the right amount of volume for a natural look and feel—without overwhelming your hair.

Step 2: Consider Hair Length & Haircut

Extensions need to blend with your natural hair, so certain haircuts or lengths require a bit more hair for a flawless finish.

Add an extra 50 grams if:

• Your hair is short (above shoulder length)

• You have a blunt cut

• You’re going with 24-inch extensions

Here’s how that might look:

• Medium hair + blunt cut = 150g + 50g = 200g

• Thick, short, 24-inch hair = 200g + 50g + 50g = 300g

Step 3: Let’s Talk Color – Balayage, Highlights & Blending

If your hair is highlighted or balayaged, you’ll want a custom color match. We’ve got two great options:

• Book our Balayage Package for hand-blended extensions that mimic your natural tones.

• Or, we can mix two solid shades together to create a blended, dimensional look.

Pro Tip: If you need a root touch-up or color correction, make sure it’s done before your extension appointment. This ensures the color match is spot on!

Step 4: Pick Your Perfect Method

Once you know how much hair and what color you need, it’s time to choose how you want it applied. We offer three professional methods:

• Invisible Tape-Ins ( best seller !!! ) – Lightweight, flat, and invisible, best for all hair types.

• Nano Extensions – Tiny, flexible bonds for a flawless finish, usually used to create or copy chunky high lights .

• Genius Weft – Seamless, durable, and great for full-volume installs
